The remarkable life of Dominic Carter is being profiled by Oprah Winfrey this month in her "O" magazine.  Dominic has been described as the best political reporter working in New York television today and Dominic was the keynote speaker at the opening night ceremony of the III Annual Book Fair in Astoria, NY on October 3.

A fixture at NY1 News since the news channel launched in 1992, Carter has released a book on his life, titled No Momma's Boy, in which he chronicles his triumphant struggle to overcome his mother's mental illness while growing up in a Bronx Housing Project.  Oprah in the magazine piece, focuses in great detail on the book.

Dominic Carter presented his book at the Opening Night of the III Annual Book Fair in Astoria, Queens. As the host of NY1's nightly political show, "Inside City Hall," Carter has handled some of the station's most challenging assignments and has interviewed every major political player in the state, as well as many national and international leaders. During this Presidential Election, Dominic often appears national TV.   Hardball with Chris Matthews, and CNN.

In 2006 he received widespread acclaim for his role as the moderator of series of state-wide debates for governor, U.S. Senator and state attorney general. During the first debate with Senator Hillary Clinton, he made international headlines when Clinton said for the first time that she was thinking about running for president.

III Annual Book Fair

The III  Annual Multilingual Book Fair, in Astoria, NY ws held on Friday October 3rd and Saturday October 4th, 2008 at the Auditorium of St Demetrios Greek American School. This cultural event is designed to promote literacy and literary endeavor in Queens, New York. It is also an opportunity for authors to encourage our youth and dialogue with the community. 

In 2007 more than 85 authors participated at the Book Fair, this year New York Book presented a group of 100 local authors of different etnhnic and cultural backgrounds

Acclaimed authors, Silvana Paternostro, Perry Brass, P.Chandra Sekharan, Dominic Carter, Justine Frangoulis Argyris, Dinorah Coronado, Adriana Aristizabal, Gustavo Arango and Shanxing Wang are among the many noted.

P.Chandra Sekharan the author of the Book "The First Human Bomb" which was released last month in India and presented thenew book.

The renowned author of the Hellenic diaspora of North America, Justine Frangouli-Argyris, participated in the third annual Multilingual Book Fair.

Her articles have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, and Time, among other publications, and she is the author of In the Land of God and Man, a finalist for the PEN/Martha Albrand Award. In 1999 she was selected by Time/CNN as one of the fifty Latin American leaders for the millennium. A senior fellow at the World Policy Institute, Paternostro lives in New York City.

For the young people, a Children's Pavilion was set-aside for children's book authors. Authors Karla Florez and Ann Miller presented the latest release.
